Rainbow Beach is the ideal place for your relaxing escape. Unspoilt white sandy beaches, gentle surf, shops and boutiques are only the start of Rainbow Beaches charms.
The main street plays hosts to your usual conveniences, post office, chemist, supermarkets, bottleshops, butchers and bakers. There are also clothing, jewellery and gift boutiques and plenty more shops to visit.
The local RSL has stunning views over the ocean and the pub has an extensive popular menu. There are several other local eateries which are all worth a sample and no big brands which Rainbow Beach is proud of.
The main shopping street leads you straight down towards the beautiful clean cresent shaped beach. Here you can stroll along in the shore and take in the famous coloured sands or enjoy views of Fraser Island.
A must see in Rainbow Beach is the Carlo Sand Blow. This unique attraction has a sand mass of over 15 hectares and overlooks the coloured sands. Access to the sandblow is at the top of town which enjoys beautiful views and then an easy 600m walk which passes through woodlands. You will then be exposed to the expansive natural sand blow.
The Sand Blow is a popular site for watching the incredible sunrise or sunsets. It boasts 360 degree views which are spectacular.
Double Island Point is located just south of Rainbow Beach. The point is a magnet for marine life. Wolf Rock, a formation of four volcanic pinnacles a short distance from the point is rated as one of Australia's top 10 dive spots.
Rainbow Beach is a brilliant spot for hang gliding, paragliding and Skydiving and is the closest point for visiting Fraser Island. Rainbow Beach is also perfect for fishing and wildlife watching, dolphins and whales can be found in the area. Dolphin Feeding is on offer at Tin Can Bay, a short drive away. The dolphins are extremely friendly and you have the option of a rare hand feed.
